The CCRTA Charlie Card
A smart card similar to the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) “Charlie Card”.
Easy To Use
Upon boarding, just tap the card on the automatic farebox, to automatically deduct the fare from the stored value. With cash, the driver can add value to your Charlie Card.
How do I get a Cape Cod Charlie Card?
Cape Cod RTA Charlie Cards are free. You can obtain a Charlie Card at the Hyannis Transportation Center or from your driver. You can add value to the Charlie Card at the Hyannis Transportation Center using cash or credit/debit card or with cash on the bus.
How do I get a senior or disable reduced fare Charlie Card?
A reduced fare Charlie Card is available upon eligibility for adults aged 60 and over and persons with disabilities. An application can be found here.
Can I add money to the Cape Cod Charlie Card somewhere other than the HTC?
Yes. You can add value to the Cape Cod Charlie card using the automatic fare box with cash.
Can I use my Cape Cod Charlie Card on the MBTA?
Yes. You can use your Charlie Card on the MBTA’s bus and subway system. Day passes and 31-day monthly transit passes provided on the CCRTA routes will NOT be honored outside of the CCRTA region. Conversely, the CCRTA cannot honor bulk passes from other regional transit authorities. Stored value will work throughout the state where the Charlie Cards are accepted.
Lost, Stolen or Damaged Charlie Cards
Terms and Conditions for Charlie Cards and Magnetic Stripe Tickets are non-refundable. Fare media must be kept in good, dry condition. Not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged cards.
Are Charlie Cards Transferable
No, they are not transferable to other persons.
